Self-professed soul-mate of late patent king Lemelson. Proud of having had a decisive impact on election defeat of several US congressmen. Sees the ffii/eurolinux campaign as a plot of japanese coroporations against the US patent system and claims that Hartmut Pilch, like many other bad people, is on the payroll of the Japs. Riley explained on a mailing list that he used to seal his constructions and build them in such a way that they would explode or otherwise injure/damage those illoyal customers who tried to open the hood in order to "steal intellectual property". In order to avoid this kind of tragedy, patents are needed, Riley insists, and those who complain about broad claims etc are just losers of a game in which inventive people like Lemelson and Riley win.
