CEC Software Patent Consultation 2000 Submissions: Peter Chown

CEO of Skygate, a small british software company says that there are many situations in which having software patents could be helpful, but these possible advantages of software patents are by far outweighed by the negative impact of the thousands of patents that at least a small company cannot cope with and that it will be infringing. Skygate is already experiencing a lot of trouble with US patents and urges the EU not to allow this kind of thing in Europe.
