Conferences on Software Patenting 2000
Commemorate Banana Union Day

The FFII Workgroup for the Protection of Digital Innovation against Software Patents frequently participates in conferences and exhibitions. We have presented our case at booths of Systems 2000 and Linuxtag 2000 as well as several hearings of governments and parties. We try to document these activities.

*Conference for the Revision of the European Patent Convention:
On Nov 20-29 the "Diplomatic Conference" for the Revision of the European Patent Convention will take place in Munich.
*Softwarepatente auf Systems 2000:
Die Arbeitsgruppe des FFII zum Schutz der digitalen Innovation vor Patenten wird am 6.-10. November 2000 auf IT-Fachmesse Systems in München auftreten. Dank freundlicher Unterstützung der Linux New Media AG sind uns zu diesem Zwecke 4-6 qm am OpenSource-Pavillon reserviert worden.
*Wem gehört das Wissen?:
Das Digitale Dilemma und Antwortversuche von OpenSource bis zu Urheberrechtsabgaben und Softwarepatenten. Eine Tagung am 20.-21. Oktober in Berlin in der Galerie der Heinrich Böll Stiftung
*Informationsökonomie - Softwarepatente - OpenSource:
Am 17. Oktober nimmt der FFII an einer Tagung der Fraktion Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen in Berlin teil, auf der die Grundsatzposition der Grünen Fraktion zur Eingrenzung des Patentwesens weiter ausgearbeitet wird.
*FFII auf Linuxtag 2000:
Der FFII e.V. informierte auf dem LinuxTag 2000 in Stuttgart über neuere gesetzeswidrige Praktiken der deutschen und europäischen Patentjustiz sowie deren Pläne, Programmlogik und damit wirtschaftliche und gesellschaftliche Verfahren aller Art umfassend patentierbar zu machen.
*Consensus of SMEs against software patents at the German Ministry of Economy:
The German Ministery of Economics and Technology hosted a dialog between representatives of the patent system and IT entrepreneurs who feel threatened by its apparently uncontrollable expansionism. Press Release of the FFII, who actively participated.
